Home is where you feel loved, appreciated and safe.
In this article, we share 4 tips to ensure your home is safe, whether or not you’re in town.
- Lock Up
This isn’t referring to the pidgin parlance that means, “Be uptight”. Rather, it means keeping your gates, doors and windows properly shut, as required. Do routine checks before you retire to bed and prior to commencing trips away from home. Replace faulty locks and use only well-fitting security gadgets.
- Say Hello to Your Neighbours
“Being a friendly neighbour has always been the keystone of community life and just saying hello can sometimes make a huge difference”. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
A friendly neighbour will always watch your back! Make friends with residents around you. They are likely to be alert and conscious of any unusual activity that may occur around your home.
- Put Your Lights On
Are the bulbs in your house functioning well? Is your external environment well lit? To protect your home, the answers to these questions should be ‘Yes’. Install electrical bulbs around your compound. Turn the lights on, after dark. Check regularly and replace spoilt bulbs & sockets.
- Get Insured
With insurance, your home and everything in it (appliances, personal items, etc.) can be protected against inevitable accidents. Insurance covers for fire, burglary, theft, personal accidents and natural disasters e.g. flooding. To keep your home safe, insurance is the number one assurance you need!
